About Stephen

I have been an avid photographer for many years. I often get asked what genre I prefer, and my default is nature. It always has been, and I think growing up in Australia with its unique landscapes and wildlife has been a significant influence. Having flung myself all over the world since my formative years has now of course shown me that natural beauty is everywhere and this is why I love to travel with camera in hand.... From the inspirational Aurora Borealis in Arctic Greenland… to the astounding Plitvice Lakes in Croatia ...to atmospheric London Town.

Inspiration

Much of my photography on this site is taken from my time living in London and travelling the world. Photo journalism and travel has allowed me to capture many amazing places, wildlife and people. Nowadays my core motivation with any photo is capturing a moment that is both unique and perfect. This of course spans many genres and I know is a lifetime pursuit. When I'm not photographing, I'm spending time with my family (and probably still snapping them) and running software development teams that build the next generation digital media experiences.

One of my favourite images from my time in Greenland. Two local men hauling their boat up onto the sea ice in Uummannaq harbour - storing it there so they'd have easy access to the open fjord water the next time they headed out. A perfectl

I’ve been blessed with some amazing aurora displays here in Greenland, but this one was phenomenal, starting as a glimmer on the horizon of Uummunnaq fjord, then erupting above us in serrated green ribbons - and then beyond t
View fullsize Greenland Sled Dog - A snowy day in Uummunnaq so opted for a snow trudge around the undulating town, telephoto lens in hand. Captured this watchful guy near where we are staying, with ice bergs looming in the fjord behind.

View fullsize Uummunnaq Harbour - encrusted with ice and wedged ice bergs bounded by the fjord’s snow capped mountains. That’s what you are looking at - but words just don’t serve the beauty of this place. Astounding!

View fullsize Ice Aurora - Treated to another whopping aurora display last night. We ventured down to the Ilulissat ice fjord via the boardwalk, stopping as we went as the aurora took hold and we were within its corona at one point. This shot over looks the fjord
View fullsize Ilulissat Aurora - Valentine’s night 2026. Stunning display after a less than hopeful hike up to the Ilulissat Ice Fjord Centre with large cloud cover. But the clouds cleared to allow this aurora to take centre stage. Stunning Greenland!

View fullsize Daw Step - I was photographing some Canadian geese at the edge of a pond, turned, and shot this jackdaw mid-step from a low angle. The bokeh complements his eye quite well. What do you think?
