About Stephen

I have been an avid photographer for many years. I often get asked what genre I prefer, and my default is nature. It always has been, and I think growing up in Australia with its unique landscapes and wildlife has been a significant influence. Having flung myself all over the world since my formative years has now of course shown me that natural beauty is everywhere and this is why I love to travel with camera in hand.... From the inspirational Aurora Borealis in Arctic Finland...to the astounding Plitvice Lakes in Croatia ...to atmospheric London Town.

Inspiration

Much of my photography on this site is taken from my time living in London and travelling the world. Photo journalism and travel has allowed me to capture many amazing places, wildlife and people. Nowadays my core motivation with any photo is capturing a moment that is both unique and perfect. This of course spans many genres and I know is a lifetime pursuit. When I'm not photographing, I'm spending time with my family (and probably still snapping them) and running software development teams that build the next generation digital media experiences.

Getting closer to the bee shot I’m aiming for. At first I was disappointed by the fuzziness near his face, then realised it’s the movement of his wings.

Golden Vessel - I wasn’t expecting this shot this evening. Last minute decision to get out of the house on the once a day exercise and thought I’d take in the sunset at the summit of Croham Hurst. It was worth it, brilliant colours, and a
Blue Bells - It’s been a couple of years since I paid a visit to Kings Wood at this time of year. I won’t leave it so long next time. The blue bell carpet is stunning, and only a short walk for the once a day lock-down exercise. This is a
Ringed Neck Parakeet - Another shot. Different day, same tree, probably same bird.

Ringed Neck Parakeet - Still amazes me these tropical birds now make Surrey and outer London their home. Snapped this fella devouring a cherry blossom from the bedroom window, so a social distancing shot. Stay safe, stay home and remember to look up.
Sunset over Dubai, looking south over Atlantis Palm and Jumeirah Beach. Taken from the 152nd floor balcony of Burj Khalifa.

This evening’s sunset over the megopolis that is bustling Dubai. Taken from atop the soaring plinth of Burj Khalifa, the world’s tallest building.

Wolf Moon - The first full moon of 2020, and a penumbral lunar eclipse. What’s that? Glad you asked. When the earth’s shadow is cast across the moon. Taken from Sanderstead, south east Surrey, near London.

Moraine Lake - One of the most eye arresting places of natural beauty you will ever visit, the azure Moraine Lake and centre piece of the snow and glacial encrusted Canadian Rocky Peaks. A joy to photograph and hike around.

Fitzroy Falls is the jewel of Morton National Park in the Southern Highlands of New South Wales, Australia. As the picture depicts it's beautiful, with a cliff rim walk that allows you take in this 80m waterfall from many vantage points. I took this
2019 Best 9 - Such a hard choice, I’ve been fortunate to visit some amazing places, and capture many incredible landscapes and wildlife thru the lens. Here’s to another year of photographic adventure. Happy 2020.

Black Bear, Jasper

Still processing my backlog of images from a recent jaunt into the Canadian Rockies. This juvenile black bear surprised us and stood on hind legs to take in his surrounds, as we watched in amazement from our car road-side. Taken
Probably the best view in Ireland. The weather was superb on Achill island, Co. Mayo in Ireland's west. So nothing for it but to make the steep climb up to the peak of Croaghaun. The peak is usually shrouded in cloud and rain. The 360 views across Cl
